Up Next: Video playlists on Facebook Pages. Since introducing video features, such as auto-play videos, Facebook has given YouTube a run for its money. Now, Facebook has announced testing for new video features. All businesses will soon be able to choose a featured video to be displayed prominently with a live comment feed. Pages will also be able to curate playlists of videos, similar to YouTube channels. Pages such as The New York Times and ABC News are testing the newly redesigned Videos section of Facebook Pages.

Twitter for iOS gets analytical. Twitter users can now track tweet impressions and engagement numbers in the Twitter iOS app. The Twitter iOS app shows analytics for each tweet in an easier to digest form than the web dashboard. While the Twitter Analytics dashboard on the web shows organic impressions and engagements, charts detailing performance, tweet previews and detailed engagement metrics for each post, the iOS app shows how many total impressions and engagements a tweet has received. It also shows how many people clicked the link in your tweet, how many people clicked to expand your tweet, how many favorites your tweet received, or how many people clicked on your profile picture or name.

Ring in the New Year with Pinterest ads. On January 1, 2015, Pinterest will begin selling ads to marketers in a move that will put the platform in competition with Google, Twitter and Facebook for advertising dollars. Marketers will be able to pay to create a Promoted Pin and can then target certain groups of people based on location, sex and type of topic they are interested in.
