The Rise of MedFluencers: Content Creators and the Future of Medical Learning

At RoseComm, we’ve spent over 20 years supporting clients in healthcare and education. So when the Medical Learning Institute, Inc. (MLI) conceived a new social-first approach to continuing education (CE) for providers, we were excited to help bring it to life.

MLI’s reelCE™ is a new short-form video concept that uses 60-90-second micro-courses to make clinical education easier to digest and more engaging. Its first series, titled “Unlocking the Secrets of Severe Asthma: From Pathways to Precision,” features 15 bite-sized videos created by well-respected clinician-educators. Topics range from asthma pathophysiology to real-world case application.

The format is designed to meet busy healthcare providers where they are: on social media. Providers can view content on TikTok, Instagram, LinkedIn, X, and YouTube, then answer questions on MLI’s learning platform to earn CE credit. With this introduction, MLI broke the CE mold, making earning continuing education credit a more streamlined and accessible process.

Our work included identifying and vetting influencers, providing strategic guidance on everything from content creation and engagement expectations, and supporting the initiative’s launch at an industry conference.

Here are a few examples of videos created for the reelCE™ series:

Why Change?

The bigger picture, of course, is making a positive impact on patient care. Severe asthma is an often misunderstood or misdiagnosed condition.

The campaign’s content chair, Dr. Tonia Farmer (@drnosebest), said in our press release, “Reinventing how CE content is created and consumed gives us an opportunity to maximize our impact with providers and, ultimately, improve patient outcomes.”

We were proud to support MLI in bringing innovation to medical education. How are you using content creators to reach your audiences?
