My focus @ RoseComm
- I work to be sure everything we communicate on behalf of our clients tells their story in the most engaging, authentic way possible
Years in the biz
- Back when I started as a PR intern in the mid-80s, I was thrilled to have a phone and chair in a hallway and get paid five bucks an hour
Why get up in the morning?
- We have amazing clients who truly help me become better at what I do
- Every day presents a new communications challenge for our clients. It’s so fulfilling to help people I respect successfully navigate those challenges
Cool things I’m working on
- Raising the profile of an early-stage tech company focused on transforming how we prepare for and mitigate one of the nation’s most pressing natural disasters
- Providing long-term public relations support for a global health services company, with a focus on high-quality communications and building media visibility in key markets
- Guiding educational institutions through complex communications challenges, while maintaining focus on mission, values and community trust
Past life
- After spending a few years caring for my daughters when they were young, I spent eight years as a partner at a marketing communications agency in Baltimore (which is where I met Rosemary!)
- Before the hiatus and Baltimore, I spent four years as a contractor focused on strategic communications, video production and collateral development for the National Institutes of Health
- I began my career as a college intern at a national medical association in DC. They hired me after I graduated and ultimately promoted me to assistant director of PR
Education
- University of Maryland College of Journalism, BS with a minor in English
After work
- I love spending time with my husband, daughters, son-in-law and granddogs
- I value experiences over material things, so I’m always looking for something fun and different to do (usually involving food). And when I’m not traveling, I’m planning my next trip
- Because I love food so much, I have a love/hate relationship with daily exercise
