Pin Pick or Treat! Pinterest unveiled its first co-marketing campaign to promote Pin Picks. Pin Picks are topic-specific collections of pins and profiles that the company has been testing since August. Pinterest is touting Pin Picks with a four-week Halloween-themed campaign. Halloween is one of the busiest times of the year for Pinterest, with more than 176 million Halloween-related pins. Here is a look at Pin Picks from this week:

Disappearing ads appear on Snapchat. Snapchat CEO Evan Spiegel announced that ads will appear on the message service, monetizing the business already valued at $10 billion. The ads will appear on its “Stories” product, which gets 500 million views daily. Users will be able to opt out of the advertising feature.

A behind the scenes look at Facebook Ads. A Q&A with Boz, the director of ad engineering, was featured on the Facebook for Business page. Boz shared insights about what it’s like to work on the ad teams at Facebook and what lies ahead for Facebook advertising. Google+ circles the wagons. Google’s new head of social media, David Besbris, sat down with Re/code to discuss the future of Google+. Besbris discussed the potential of ads on Google+ and obstacles the network faces but didn’t want to talk about the number of users.

You’ll never guess what BuzzFeed just changed!  buzzfeed quizzesBuzzFeed, famous for an endless supply of listicles and quizzes, opened the quiz-making service to anyone in the BuzzFeed Community. Simply by signing up for a BuzzFeed Community, users will be able to create his or her own quizzes.

Facebook goes rogue. Prep is underway for a new stand-alone app that will allow users to interact anonymously, The New York Times reported.

New Facebook advertising options available to SMBs. Facebook unveiled local awareness ads, a new feature to make advertising for local businesses easier and more effective. With local awareness ads, businesses can quickly and easily find new customers by showing ads to groups of people who are near that business’ neighborhood.
